The interview

Filed under: Uncategorized — jackielawrence @ 9:19 am

Well, I went to my interview yesterday. I love this company. I enjoyed myself while I was there. Actually interviewed for two different positions. Praying that One of them comes thru. I think I did well so we will see what happens. Joe has gone to his second interview today (same company) so hopefully we will know something this afternoon on his job. I should know something by friday. So with any luck we will both rejoin the regular workforce. I am so anxious I do hope they pick me I have about a zillion ideas running thru my head that I would like to talk to them about. Anyway it is a dream job so I hope my dreams come true. Gotta get busy I have a design to work on for a motorcycle seat. Will post on that when it is finished.

The end of a business

Filed under: Uncategorized — jackielawrence @ 1:08 pm

Well today we gave our landlords our notice. Our last day of business will be Feb 28th.

We will move our sewing and embroidery machines back to our home (which is still on the market). We have a big shop in the back yard that will house our lovelies until we sell the house or take it off the market. Joe has had one of his interviews (they want him) and has another one today. Still another one tomorrow. It will be so nice to not have to worry about a steady paycheck any more. And we can still do what we love just on a part time basis. I really have a peace about all of this. I don’t regret having tried it in the big retail world. You never know if you don’t try. But being your own boss is not always what is is cracked up to be. So many hassles taxes, taxes and more taxes, cashflow, employees, oh and did i say taxes, lol. I will not miss that. My son is away in college and he is missing all the action.  I’m sure he is glad he is not here. He saw a little bit of it when he was home for Christmas. My daughter will be starting college in the fall and our nest will be empty. So I guess it is time for a new adventure. I know my embroidery shop will suffer from moving back to the house Up until this year it did well over here.  But sometimes you have to give up something to be able to move forward. At leat my big machine is paid for and now I can do what ever my little heart pleases on it instead of just looking at it as work. That’s all for now. See ya later.

End of the day

Filed under: Uncategorized — jackielawrence @ 3:05 pm

Well today is drawing to a close and Joe has 2 job interviews on Monday. I went ahead and submitted a resume also with a company I would very much like to work for. I will tell who later on if I get a call on it. Anyway. I’ve only has 2 piddly little jobs this week. Everything is so slow. Joe’s upholstery has picked up a little but not enough. We have been working on our house as of late. We have put it on the market. So I guess looking at all of that we need some people praying for us in a major way. Everyone at church is sad and they don’t want us to move. But ya know you have to do what is right to take care of your family. And if the $$ are not coming in then I don’t know anyone who can sustain living that way for very long.  So long story short if you are the praying kind of peopl (which I hope you are) then by all means add us to your prayer list. :) It would be much appreciated. Have a great weekend.

Wondering about Etsy

Filed under: Uncategorized — jackielawrence @ 12:08 pm

I have been wondering and thinking about opening an etsy shop. Just not sure how people do with it. Has anyone out there tried it and liked it? I’m trying to decide what to do when we close up shop. I’m thinking about getting a part time job and doing embroidery the rest of the time. Opening an etsy shop is one option I thought would help me. Any and all comments appreciated.

Back to Reality

Filed under: Uncategorized — jackielawrence @ 10:53 am

Well it has been a while since I have posted. Sorry about that.  We have been consumed with the holidays and after that. We have been trying to decide if we need to close up shop and get real jobs. Business has been almost non existant for a couple of months now. It sure is hard to keep every thing going when this happens and it happens almost every year. But this year seems worse. I ‘m just tired of it all. So we have been testing the waters to see if there are any jobs out there that Joe can go after. After hours of searching on the internet (gotta love it, makes things easier) I was happy to find quite a few he qualified for and went about sending in resumes. But the waiting to hear is sooooo frustrating. He does upholstery so if anyone hears of anything pass it along ok? We are willing to re-locate if neccessary and if the package is good enough.

Well those are my thoughts for today and for the last couple of days actually. No pic today to post. I did get purses done for several people for christmas and everone seems to be happy with them so mission accomplished.

Made a new bag

Filed under: embroidery, sewing purses — jackielawrence @ 4:20 pm

I made a new bag today. I had some pretty left over upholstery scraps. He saves those for me:) . Anyway I just finished it up. I think it turned out cute. I will try to get it posted soon. My best friend is having surgery tomorrow. So I won’t be back here til Monday. She is having a lump taken out of her left breast under her arm Pray that is is not cancer. Anyway I will be at the hospital with her tomorrow and sitting with her at home on saturday. I did it I loaded it. I put velcro across the top of this one so it wouldn’t gap open. I couldn’t get some wrinkles out of the fabric where it was “stored” in my fabric box. I will unload it and try some starch on it when I get home.img_0234.JPG
